Wonderland Adventure Worldwide WAW
Wonderland Adventures Worldwide (WAW) is a global educational competition
that utilizes gamification to offer a captivating blend of education and
entertainment, and turn learning English into an exhilarating adventure.
In Wonderland, students are not merely passive learners; they are active
participants in their language journey. They earn points through quizzes,
assignments, forum challenges and team projects, with results contributing
to their ranking on international leaderboards. The journey culminates in
an invigilated test that awards points based on performance. The top 20
students on each leaderboard and all first-round medalists are invited to
take a final test covering reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
Top students in the WAW Competition can win a spot at the Wonderland STEM
& Leadership Camp in Niagara Falls, Canada, an all-inclusive trip to
the Global Awards Ceremony in Egypt, or a cash prize. The Wonderland
competition is open internationally to students aged 5 to 19 years old.
Participants are classified into 10 groups (regular and special
categories) and 6 Leaderboards based on their school grade, age, and
English proficiency.
The competition consists of four gamified English
courses, each covering different CEFR proficiency levels and containing
engaging zones and themes. To ensure proper placement, students can
optionally take the Wonderland Placement Test to confirm their English
proficiency level.
Below is an illustrative table showing the
classifications based on grade, the corresponding category, leaderboard
and the assigned course/level.
Each participant in the Wonderland competition is enrolled in a gamified 120-hour English proficiency course.
Courses are designed in alignment with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), ensuring a standardized and internationally recognized approach to language learning.
Each course has unique zones with specific themes, such as Lexical Jungle, Theme Park and Grammar Circus. These include quizzes, writing themes, and animated videos covering topics in vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading, and speaking skills.
Once enrolled in a course, students are assigned to a group on the Wonderland Forum, which serves as their communication hub for participation.
The Forum allows students to interact with other competition participants, discuss their progress, share insights, and build a community of learners.
The platform also includes updates regarding weekly challenges, course-related announcements, and leaderboard performance metrics for students.
Throughout their adventure in Wonderland Competition, students collect points, gain ranks, earn medals, and rise on leaderboards. All these achievements contribute to their ranking on the international
leaderboards assigned for each level.
The top 20 students from each leaderboard and all first-round medalists are invited to take a comprehensive, externally invigilated test that covers the four core language skills: reading, writing, listening, and speaking.
The final test is scheduled to be during February for the First intake and during the first week of August, 2026 for the second intake.
The score for this final exam is calculated by adding 10% of each student’s total accumulated points to their final test score (1000 points).
The outcome of this exam determines the final ranking of the top students on each leaderboard, which guides the selection of winners and their respective awards.
