About
The Crown Science Contest(also known as the Crown of Science) is a companion to the Crown Math competition, organized by the Amjaad Educational Olympiads. It is designed to inspire curiosity and critical thinking through real-world scientific challenges rather than just textbook memorization.
The competition is structured to be inclusive for younger students while remaining academically rigorous for those in secondary school.
Core Topics and Curriculum
The competition covers five main pillars of science, adapted for different grade levels:
Life Sciences: Biology, anatomy, and ecosystems. Physical Sciences: Physics and Chemistry fundamentals.
Earth & Space: Geology, astronomy, and atmospheric science.
Environmental Science: Ecology, sustainability, and conservation.
Innovation & Technology: Engineering principles and the scientific method.
Competition Structure
Like the Math counterpart, the Science contest operates on a seasonal intake system:
Eligible Grades | Grades 1 – 12. |
Language | English and Arabic. |
Mode| Online or In-person at participating “Country Venues. Intake Rounds June Intake 1 Single Round.
Jan–Feb Intake: 2 Rounds Preliminary and Final

Awards and Recognition
The competition emphasizes rewarding the “scientific spirit.” Participants receive:
Certificates: All participants receive a certificate of participation or achievement.
The organizers emphasize the **Scientific Method**. Students are often tested on their ability to:
1. **Observe:** Analyze data tables or images of experiments.
2. **Hypothesize:** Predict outcomes based on scientific laws.
3. **Conclude:** Identify the most logical result of a scientific process.
> **Note:** For the youngest participants (Grades 1-2), the questions focus heavily on **logic and general knowledge** about the natural world, while the upper grades (10-12) tackle complex Physics and Chemistry problems similar to AP , IGCSE or IB levels.
